As all parents know, babies often get red and irritated skin around the nappy area. This can be caused by either a reaction to urea, or by yeast. The introduction of a barrier cream could help soothe this. As a parent, the formulator knows just how careful all parents are as to what goes on their child's skin. That is why we list all ingredients on our website, not only the pretty ones. We hope you like what we made

Even though the refined nut oils used in skin care do not contain the protein that cause allergic reactions, we made our baby balm nut oil free for peace of mind. Parents already have enough on their plates.

First tried and tested on our own babies. Four thumbs up (they are twins) .We have now decided to share the love. Charli and Avie are now rash free and we hope you too have soft bottomed babies

Ingredient Description
Aqua When we were told that we have to call our purified water Aqua we thought they were kidding. But we cant fight bureaucracy. So we arent trying to be fancy, but we do need to call our water Aqua sometimes.
Zinc Oxide The most natural sun protection barrier. There is a lot we would like to say about sunscreens but cannot. We strongly encourage people to start researching the ingredients in the sunscreen they choose and what the actual benefits may be.
Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil Sunflower Oil is rich in vitamins A, D, especially vitamin E and essential fatty acids. Sunflower oil has a light texture making it very comfortable on babies skin.
Cetearyl Alcohol (Plant Based Emulsifying Wax) Creams are made from a mix of purified water and oils so as to be more moisturising than oil alone. To hold water and oils together, they need an emulsifying wax. We use a plant based wax that allows the water and oils to stay together.
Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil Wonderfully healthy for the skin. So many benefits, it might be best to Google "Olive Oil Skin" instead.
Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil Jojoba Oil is one of the most moisturising skin care oils around and is one of our all-time favourite moisturising oils. It is light and sinks into the skin easily. Curiously, Jojoba Oil is actually a liquid wax. It is also very non comedogenic meaning that it does not clog the pores. It makes for a good conditioner too. It helps keep the hair shaft smooth and soft. Most hair conditioners use silicone to coat the hair (cyclomethicone or dimethicone), however Jojoba Oil is much more natural and moisturising and doesnt cause so much build-up.
Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) A rich moisturising butter which, in our opinion, is a great alternative to Lanolin.
Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil This is exceptionally fine textured oil and has superb moisturising, emollient and anti-inflammatory properties. It has been traditionally used to make an infusion for healing wounds but it is used in skincare for its ability to work wonders on dry aging skin.
Evening primrose oil is exceptionally high in fatty acids, especially in gamma linolenic acid (GLA) and is one of our favourite moisturising and soothing oils.
Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E) We use the more expensive, natural Vitamin E in our creams, not synthetic. Natural Vitamin E has up to twice the bioavailability of synthetic forms. Vitamin E has antioxidant action as well as free radical scavenger properties. Abundant assortments of researchers from diversified medical fields have theorized that this can slow the aging process. (Sources: Skin Pharmacology and Applied Skin Physiology, November-December 2001, and Free Radical Biology and Medicine, October 1999).
Polysorbate 60 (Food Grade Emulsifier) A lot of our customers are small. So small in fact that they have sometimes mistaken the creams their mums or dads put on the nappy change table for food. So we always choose the most edible ingredients we can. Polysorbates are used in a lot of foods like Mayonnaise, Ice-cream etc to hold the cream and water together. We use them to help with the same thing.
Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract Calendula is well known for its healing and soothing qualities. We have infused Calendula within Sunflower Oil to keep it all edible for babies.
Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract Matricaria chamomilla extract contains active Flavonoid and Essential Oil compounds, which are particularly advantageous in the care of sensitive skin. Anti-inflammatory properties due to the inhibition of histamine release anti-free radical action and inhibition of the super oxide radical synthesis.
Allantoin Comfrey Root has long been known as a healing plant. Allantoin was identified as the part of the plant that performed this function and it has since been synthesised to make it more concentrated and effective. So the allantoin we use is the pure ingredient. Allantoin has been termed a cell proliferant in texts such as the "United States Dispensatory". It is said to clean away dead tissue, hastening the growth of new healthy tissue. Allantoin has been also termed a counter irritant. Allantoin produces its desirable effects by promoting and speeding up the healthy, natural processes of the body. It helps the skin to help itself. It is also promoted as preventing lines and wrinkles by assisting skin repair.
Piroctone Olamine Piroctone Olamine is an anti-yeast ingredient. Non-irritating, it also helps keep the cream free from bacteria and mould.
Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract Cosmetic creams need to stay pure from bacteria. That is why ingredients like Parabens etc are used by a lot of companies. These work great at achieving their aim, but a lot of our customers are very young children. Sometimes accidents happen and so we aim to make our creams as food like as possible. We worked for over a year to develop a preservation system based on Hop Extract. All our creams have now been checked for preservative efficacy using the British Pharmacopeia test. We are very proud that we are probably one of the first companies to develop this natural and edible anti-bacterial system into our creams.
